April 3, 2009 - Claudia Schmidt (claudiasings.homestead.com):
No local singer matches the
inventive dynamic of Claudia Schmidt, whose range runs from moodful musings to a roller coaster ride of scat rhymes and
rhythms. As with many great jazz performers, Claudia’s energy is best captured live, and her latest disc finds her at her
“state of the art” best.
April 17, 2009 - Lou and Peter Berryman (www.louandpeter.com):
Long-time favorites of the PFS and clever songsmiths. Liable to be the year's primary gathering of mid-western emigres in Portland Need we say more?
May 15, 2009 - Mollie O’Brien & Rick Moore - (www.mollieobrien.com):
Mollie O’Brien sings. Does she ever.
Jazz, R&B, blues, gospel, southern mountain traditional - you name it. And she approaches each with an ease that makes you
think she was steeped in the style since the first time a note left her throat. Rich Moore made his reputation early on as
bassist and guitarist with stellar local outfits and in recent years has been the rhythmic bedrock with ensembles fronted by
his wife, the internationally-esteemed vocalist Mollie O'Brien.
